My recent Nick Drake posts on the forthcoming "Family Tree" compilation attracted a fair amount of interest with one poster, a good friend of mine Big Rab, highlighting the great "Way To Blue".
I will therefore stand back, light the torch and await with interest comments and views on this cover of that very song undertaken by no other than Elton John back in 1968.

Part of the considerable charm of "Way to Blue" is its innate Englishness. Hearing Reg murder it with a mid Atlantic drawl in the style of a pub singer has made me quite ill!
To be fair, some of Elton's early material was fine but not this!
You are right, this track was taken from demo sessions he did prior to signing to DJM.
Obviously the A&R guy wasn't a Nick Drake fan!!!
